'When someone is handsome you say: "easy on the eyes."'
When I was in Iowa two years ago I learned this phrase from Heather. For almost two years a note with this sentence has been lying on my table. I really love that phrase. In Dutch I cannot recall a similar phrase. We say: 'he's a handsome' or 'she's a piece'. But easy on the eyes, that's really something. That's something physical, something that the eyes are made for, for beauty.
By the way, there's another phrase on that piece of paper as well:
'blowing smoke up your ass' is supposed to mean that someone is bullshitting you. Actually I like the explanation more than the phrase. Because when you are talking about 'bullshitting' then you make a verb out of a noun. The English-speaking world does that very easily and I like that.
